Default The Moonwhisper Legacy

The Moonwhisper Legacy is the tale of my characters Destai, Abigail and Teremai Moonwhisper. It tells the tale of maintaining family ties through all odds, looking past our suffering and coming out alive despite death at our doorstep. It is about the triumph of strength and values.

The story begins in pre-searing and follows events from the game from a different perspective. The characters are not Hereos, they are not the saviors. they are ordinary people placed in extraordinary circumstances.

This is the Moonwhisper Legacy.

Chapter One

Ederyll Moonwhisper had served for many years abroad as a soldier and scout to his people in Ascalon, after his 15 year term settling in Ascalon seemed an alluring prospect. Paid for by the military, he settled in Regent Valley with his soon to be wife Asha, a gifted mesmer with some knowledge of healing. Within a year a bright boy was on his way into Tyria, he was given the name Destai.

Since his early years, Destai shared the love of nature with father as they explored the ascalonian wilderness. Ederyll gave him the leisure of accompanying him on many hunting ventures and soon Destai learned the ways of the bow and the woods. At twelve, he tamed a beautiful female stalker which he named Erlewyn.

A long time friend of Ederyll, Daramus, visited every spring, usually around Destai's birthday. A krytan man, Daramus had seen a large amount of the wilds and demonstrated an adept wisdom in wilderness survival and beast mastery. Destai flocked to him for the short term of the year that he visted. A quiet man, Daramus taught without many words yet shared a special bond with Destai. He not only taught him the expertise of Krytan rangers but the wisdom of silence and the rewards it gives in the wilderness.
Destai was now turning twenty and Daramus had a week left in Ascalon. He brought with him a rare gift, a Druid's Vest from the Jungle. Destai eagerly recieved this and a recurve bow that bore a small enchantment to improve its accuracy. His mother gave him a small booklet of spells that should he ever need he would have them. Destai felt as if he could take on the world. Yet inside, he was a tender spirit.

For several days, his twin cousins Teremai and Abigail visited to celebrate his entry into manhood. Teremai, a brother at the abbey excuded a contagious compassion and patience. Abigail, however had a brooding silence. The twins were sent to the abbey by their passing father. Their mother died in labor.

Within several days, the twins left for the abbey and Destai remained in contentment with his family in Regent Valley. That contentment would soon be shattered.

A soldier rode on horseback to their house with news of a charr seen south of the wall. Father and son looked astonishingly at one another. Daramus came from the other room and maintained his silent stature despite the news. After the discussion Destai and his father, armed themselves and prepared to journey with Daramus and the soldier, Valen, to ascalon and northern regions. Rangers had attempted to scout out the villian and the king requested any able men to come the city. Asha, knowing this result in seperation, was in tears. Ederyll held his wife's hand after a long embrace and then went his seperate ways on the promise they would see each other again.

After a few hours, the three had passed into lakeside county when the sky seemed to blacken as if night had invaded day without warrant. A searing heat came through the air as crystalline shards crashed in the ground. Ascalon and the wall, had fallen. The city was in cinders and cries filled the smoke filled air. All around them, the sky fell.

Ederyll quickly commanded them to the neighboring cave on the other of the lake. The lake was no longer the pleasant cool waterbody it was the daybefore, it was beginning to burn. they crossed in nonetheless. Midway a roar pierced their ears. Charr.

Several charr, bearing bloodied blades, stood on the hill above. Two raced towards them, Destai held back his bow and let fly an arrow into one's eye. Two other Charr came forth with blades and Daramus gripped two arrows into them both. The remaining Charr locked blades with Ederyll and Valen.

"Run! To the cave...!!"

Destai hesitated.

"Go, fool now, before more come! Daramus..." he silenced "Be well my friend"

Daramus fled with Destai to the cave across the ravine. Not any too soon, a second Charr warbrand arrived from the smoldering Ascalon ruins. Among the charr were mages of fire and they had not hesitated to let loose the fire they could wield. As Valen ran towards a fireball met his torso, setting him in the air on fire. Ederyll, struck down any Charr foolish enough to engage him. Seeing this a Charr mage hurled fire at him, though it did not singe him, he had knocked him down with burns. Weakened, he lay on his back. A Charr warrior approached slowly and confidently...

Destai turned as he heard the final scream of his father. Daramus restrained him. "Come boy, you must or you will not survive." Reluctantly, he followed.

The two established themselves in the cave and Daramus laid down traps out of his survival pack. They were safe, for the moment anyway. They proceeded further down into the cave when a whiptail confronted them. An arrow flew from Destai and pierced its stinger, Daramus grabbing his scimitars jumped on its back, slicing its stinger from it and then driving his blades into its body.

The two rested near the stream in the cave, Destai attempted drinking the water to cool himself. Daramus grabbed him before he could taste it. The stream boiled in front of them. A large crash down outside, closing the cave entrance. Moments afterwards, a band of Charr rushed through, passing by the cave and its inhabitants. Days would pass before they could search for their family and allies. Days would pass before they would see day itself again.

Now all they could do was wait.

cool story but i would suggest not exactly "shoving facts into peoples faces". If there was a more indirect approach like if you talked about characters and put hints in like he was 15 years in the military and stuff like that. Otherwise it was pretty good. Nice descriptions and places. With some work I'll be really into this so GL
